Can I wash my flag?
Yes. Every fabric we use is 100% polyester: wash it by hand in cold or lukewarm water with a little mild soap, or in the machine on a delicate cycle at 30°C, and hang it well spread out. No ironing needed.
Before the first use
A quick rinse is a good idea, though not compulsory: dip the flag in cold water — no detergent needed — rinse it twice, wring it and hang it well spread out so no creases form. This washes away the finish left by production, and once dry the colours are brighter and the fabric softer than it feels out of the box.
If you skip it, the first rain does the same. You may then see the flag «shedding» a little colour or a slightly reddish finish. That is not a defect: only the excess is washing out, and the flag dries brighter.
Washing later
Outdoors a flag collects dust and smog, which the fibre absorbs over time and which greys it. An occasional wash does no harm: by hand in a basin with cold or lukewarm water and a mild soap for delicate fabrics, or a short machine cycle for delicates at 30°C. Then hang it, spread out. No ironing.
This holds for all five materials — Nautical Polyester, Long Life, Storm Flag, Display and Satin.
